He is an independent, companionable presence that lives right on your desktop. He might choose to stroll across your active windows, curl up for a nap on top of your dock, or watch your cursor glide across the screen.

By blending authentic feline behaviors with thoughtful productivity features, Desktop Felix turns your Mac from a purely functional tool into a shared, inviting space. Click the Cat Icon (🐱) in your macOS Menu Bar to open Felix’s control station:

• About Felix: Opens a clean, retro-styled window displaying versioning, copyright information, and a custom close button.
• Reset Felix Position: Teleports Felix back to the center of your active screen (extremely useful for multi-monitor setups if Felix wanders off-screen).
• Pause / Resume Animation: Freezes/Resumes Felix’s frame loop when you need absolute, distraction-free focus.
• Stretch Breaks: A dedicated wellness subsystem nested cleanly as a menu option: * Enable Stretch Breaks: Toggles active timer tracking with checkmark indicators (✓). This setting persists automatically across system restarts. * Preview Break: Instantly triggers a snappy, 4-second preview of Felix’s stretch routine.
• Resource Heatwave: An intelligent ambient system health monitor nested as a menu option:
  • Enable Resource Heatwave: Toggles active CPU, Memory, and Thermal monitoring.
  • CPU Trigger Threshold: Customize the target CPU utilization threshold (70%, 80%, or 90%).
  • Memory Trigger Threshold: Customize the target system memory consumption threshold (75%, 85%, or 95%).
  • Polling Interval: Configures how frequently system metrics are polled (10 Seconds, 20 Seconds, or 30 Seconds—with a safe 20-second default).
  • Preview Heatwave: Triggers an instant 8-second demonstration of Felix’s overheated sprawl and subsequent recovery sequence.
• Keep Awake: A helper utility that prevents macOS from going to sleep or activating the screensaver for a selected duration.
• Behavior Action (Manual State Overrides): Force Felix into any of her signature behavioral cycles for exactly 10 seconds before she automatically resumes her natural routine:
  • Idle: Sits upright, with a calm gaze and organic tail sways.
  • Running: An elegant, high-velocity running cycle.
  • Sniffing: Stalking/hunting low-snout floor tracking and shiver animations.
  • Clawing: Rapid screen scratching with bright white spark particles that drift down and settle before dissolving.
  • Scratching: Sits and rapidly scratches behind her pointy ear with a hind leg.
  • Grooming: Sits down and bobs her head to lick a raised front paw.
  • Stretching: Triggers a continuous, looping preview of Felix’s classic feline back-arch stretch.
  • Sleeping: Lies flat, closes her eyes, and floats sleeping “Zzz” bubbles.
  • Walking: A slow, elegant feline stroll.
  • Overheated: Forces Felix’s flat-out belly-flop posture and tail-fanning motion.
  • Recovering: Forces Felix’s post-heat yawn and sat sigh of relief.
• Quit Felix: Quit the app.
